When to Choose Autodesk

Choose Autodesk when the project has (or is required to have) federated 3D models. Navisworks Manage is still the desktop standard for hard, soft, and clearance clashes on an NWD or NWC file. Autodesk Construction Cloud, through BIM Collaborate and the older BIM 360 coordination products it replaced, gives the same model aggregation and issue tracking in the cloud so people who are not sitting in Navisworks can see the clash space.

That stack is the right buy for VDC teams, BIM-mandated contracts, and MEP-heavy jobs where every trade already models. Autodesk does not automatically read a 2D CD package for spec conflicts. If the contract names a federated model, weekly clash meetings, and an Autodesk issue log, start there. Do not swap that process for a PDF reviewer and call the model coordinated. The model test still has to run.

When to Choose Helonic

Choose Helonic when the coordination risk is still on the issued documents. Helonic reviews 2D PDF drawing sets for sheet-to-sheet clashes, spec-versus-drawing discrepancies, and code flags. Findings include sheet location and a path to push accepted items into Procore or Autodesk Construction Cloud as RFIs. No BIM model is required.

Helonic is the earlier-stage or complementary catch: bid sets, shop drawings, consultant PDFs, and any package that never became IFC. It is not Clash Detective. Typical moment: the federation is clean and the mechanical shop drawing still routes a main through a beam that only exists on S-201. That is a drawing problem. Helonic is built for that input. Autodesk's clash tools never saw the sheet.

Can You Use Both?

Yes. Helonic and Autodesk are complementary on a modeled job. Autodesk runs geometric clash detection on the federation. Helonic reviews the 2D set that still goes to the field, including trades and shop drawings that never entered that federation. Helonic can pull those sheets from ACC and push accepted findings back as issues, so the record stays in Autodesk.
