What Happens to Your Drawings When AI Drawing Review Ends?

Published October 4, 2026•5 min read

Helonic is an AI construction drawing analysis platform for teams planning for the end of an AI drawing review subscription. What happens to your drawings when an AI drawing review subscription ends depends on what you wrote down before you started. Exports, deletion, and what your team can still open are three separate questions. The retention question IT asks up front is on what IT needs before an AI drawing review. This page covers the exit.

Direct answer. When a Helonic subscription ends, export findings before the end date and ask for the drawings to be deleted on a stated number of days with written confirmation. Helonic's terms say data may be deleted under its retention policy after termination, and its privacy policy provides deletion on request. Put the days in the order form.

What should the exit look like?

WhenWhat happensWho
Before the end dateExport the findings list and any marked-up sheets to your own project folderReviewer
On the end dateAccess closes. Anything held only in the vendor viewer is no longer availableVendor
Within the stated daysDrawings are deleted from the vendor systemVendor
After deletionWritten confirmation is filed with the vendor recordIT or procurement

Export first, then ask for deletion. Reversing the order leaves a team with a vendor confirmation and no findings.

Who owns the drawings afterwards?

You do. Helonic's terms state that the customer retains ownership of the drawings and content it uploads, and that Helonic's license is limited to providing the service. The AI policy adds that customer data is not used to train or fine-tune AI models.

Public pages describe policy. The signed agreement sets the number of days and the confirmation. Counsel's side of that is on what legal wants in an AI drawing review contract.

What should your team keep?

  • The findings list with sheet numbers and locations.
  • Marked-up sheets, if the export includes them.
  • The score sheet that shows which comments were kept and which were rejected.
  • The RFIs created from findings, which already live in Procore or Autodesk Construction Cloud.

Findings that became RFIs through the Procore integration are already in your project record. A short agreement that bounds all of this is on what a one-project agreement should cover. The security rows behind the deletion answer are on what a security questionnaire should get back. For the buying criteria that include data handling, see what to look for in an AI construction drawing review platform.

What if the vendor changes hands?

Ask what happens to your data if the vendor is acquired or stops operating. A usable answer says the deletion and confidentiality terms bind a successor, and that you get notice. If the agreement is silent, counsel should add a sentence.

Keep your own copy of everything that matters. The findings export, the marked-up sheets, and the score sheet are your record whatever the vendor does next. The category background is in AI for construction drawings.

How do you rehearse the exit during the pilot?

Do a small exit test at the midpoint, while the vendor still has every reason to be helpful.

  • Export the findings for one package and open them outside the tool.
  • Check that sheet numbers and locations survive the export.
  • Ask the vendor to delete a test upload and confirm in writing how long it took.

If the exit test is awkward at the midpoint, it will be worse at the end. Raise it then, while the order form can still be changed.

Practitioner insight

“Nobody asks about the exit until the contract is up. By then the findings are in somebody's browser tab. Export first, then ask the vendor to delete and tell you when it is done.”

Frequently Asked Questions

What happens to my drawings when an AI drawing review subscription ends?
It depends on the agreement. Ask for three things in writing: what you can export before the end date, how many days until the drawings are deleted, and written confirmation that deletion happened. Helonic's terms state that data may be deleted under its retention policy after termination, and its privacy policy provides deletion on request.
Can I export findings after the subscription ends?
Do not assume you can. Export findings, with sheet numbers and locations, before the end date. Findings without the PDF behind them are a weak record, so ask whether the marked-up sheets export too.
Who owns the drawings after I stop using the tool?
You do. Helonic's terms state that the customer retains ownership of the drawings and content it uploads, and that Helonic's license is limited to providing the service.
Should the deletion period be written into the order form?
Yes. A policy that says data is kept as long as necessary has no date. Write a number of days after the end date, and ask for confirmation when it is done.
What can my team still open after the subscription ends?
Whatever you exported. Anything that lives only inside the vendor's viewer is gone with the account. Keep the findings list, the marked-up sheets, and your score sheet in your own project folder.
