Helonic is an AI construction drawing analysis platform for teams researching templates during drawing review. Free construction punch list template with location, sheet, trade, priority, status, and verification columns. Download the CSV for Excel or Sheets.
A punch list template is a spreadsheet for logging every incomplete or incorrect item found near substantial completion, so each one has a location, a responsible trade, a due date, and a sign-off. The construction punch list template below works room by room, references the drawing sheet for each item, and opens in Excel or Google Sheets.
A usable construction punch list has twelve columns: item number, location (building, floor, room), sheet reference, trade, description, priority, photo reference, assigned to, date opened, due date, status, and verified by and date. The verification column matters most, because an item marked complete by the sub is not closed until the GC or architect confirms it.
Keep the columns fixed across every trade and every walk. When each sub sorts by their own name, they should see the same fields the architect sees.

Here's a filled-in punch list from a Level 2 walk on a medical office building. It's sorted by location so a superintendent can walk it in order, and every item points to the sheet that shows the correct condition.

Download the punch list template (CSV, opens in Excel or Google Sheets). It has all twelve columns plus one example row you can delete.
Open the CSV, save it as an .xlsx workbook, and turn the range into a table (Ctrl+T) so filters and sorting work on every column. Add data validation dropdowns to Priority, Trade, and Status so nobody types "done" in one row and "Complete" in another.
Two more additions pay off on large jobs: conditional formatting that turns a row red when the due date has passed and status isn't Closed, and a pivot table counting open items by trade. Send each sub a filtered view rather than the full list.
This page is the template. For how to run the process (pre-punch, walk schedule, back-charges, and closing fast), read punch list best practices. Once the list is clear, the construction closeout checklist covers warranties, O&M manuals, and as-builts. The same room-by-room logging habit works for the construction daily report template.
Helonic doesn't run punch walks or track punch items. Item L2-016 above is the kind it's built for: an access panel that the mechanical sheet needs and the reflected ceiling plan never shows. Our punch list root causes analysis traces how many items start as drawing conflicts, and our drawing conflict detection flags those conflicts from the PDF set before construction, with sheet references.

He works closely with general contractors, project managers, estimators, and owners to understand how drawing quality drives project outcomes - and where AI can reduce RFIs, change orders, and rework. Milind has interviewed hundreds of construction professionals across project delivery roles, from preconstruction estimators at ENR top-400 contractors to facilities directors at institutional owners, and uses those conversations to shape both product direction and the way Helonic talks about the work.
How this page was researched: Columns were checked against the punch list and closeout provisions of AIA A201-2017 (Section 9.8, Substantial Completion) and against the punch workflows described in Helonic's punch list best practices and closeout checklist pages, reviewed November 1, 2026. The example items, companies, and mounting heights are illustrative.
